Hadiya Layla Jones is a Sociology Ph.D. student at Princeton University and an UNCF Mellon Mays Fellow. She graduated from Spelman College in 2015 with a B.A. in English and Sociology. She uses both qualitative and quantitative methods to better understand the intersections of race, gender, class, and privilege. In her work, she explores how Black middle-class millennials navigate their identities amongst various racial social spheres and social platforms, and as media and cultural creators. She considers herself to be a race, intersectionality, and media studies scholar.
