Samuel García is a historian of early modern Europe who focuses on the development of Catholicism in both Spain and Spanish America. His research and teaching interests include the Spanish Inquisition, witchcraft prosecutions in early modern Europe and colonial America, and confession in its various forms. His current project centers on the definition of and campaign against “superstition” in early modern Spain.
