Andy Hakim studies American literary and cinematic culture. His current research focuses on a series of 20th- and 21st-century literary and visual documents that present narratives of the American dream as “crimes” that need to be solved. He is also co-authoring, with Emma Ljung, a study on the role writing plays in facilitating students’ entrance into scholarly conversations and their ability to craft researched arguments across disciplines. Other interests include detective stories and fantasy fiction and film.
