Joseph L. Lewis is an interdisciplinary scholar specializing in cultural studies and Black studies. His research investigates writing and the Black radical tradition(s) and representations of the Black body in literature and film. He is currently working on two book projects. The first book project probes the connection between the Black body, rhetoric, and student protest movements in the United States and South Africa. The second book project, which is the first book of a trilogy, theorizes Black Horror as a conceptual framework to examine monstrosity, violence, and terror in American culture.
