Nasia Anam researches colonial, postcolonial, and diasporic literature in the English- and French-speaking worlds.  She is interested in cities and migration, with a special focus on the movement of peoples between South Asia, North Africa, Europe, and the United States.  She is currently working on two projects:  the first examines the racialization of Muslim migrants in 20th-century London and Paris, and the second looks at historical and contemporary Bengali diasporic figures such as the coolie, the lascar, the Babu, and the garment worker.
